Who we are

We've been in the lab.
We know every
frustration.

OmixLab was built after 10 years of watching the same problem repeat in every research institute across India and the Gulf: brilliant scientists unable to analyse their own data.

Our story

From EdGene Biomed to OmixLab

From 2018, we ran bioinformatics workshops under the EdGene Biomed brand — at IISc, CCMB, NIMHANS, in Dubai with international attendees from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Algeria, and across 40+ universities and private research labs in India.

Those workshops worked. Researchers got unstuck. They published. Some came back the next year with their juniors. The Dubai program drew 28 participants in 2018 from four countries.

OmixLab is the structured rebuild — the same expertise, the same teaching philosophy, expanded into two delivery motions: recorded courses available to any researcher worldwide, and in-person workshops under the DEcode and Next GenOmics programme names.

"The gap between 'I watched a tutorial' and 'I can run this on my own data' is consistent, predictable, and fixable."

What we believe

01 — Researchers learn by doing, not by watching

Every OmixLab course and workshop is built around running real pipelines on real data. You'll be at a terminal, making mistakes, learning from them.

02 — Getting stuck is normal. Getting unstuck is the skill.

We teach you how to read an error, find its cause, and fix it — so every subsequent error is less frightening.

03 — A ₹31,000 stipend is not an excuse for bad education

Indian researchers deserve the same quality of bioinformatics training as researchers at MIT or the Wellcome Sanger. OmixLab is priced to make that possible.

04 — Community over content

The support structure is as important as the curriculum. An active peer community and live instructor access are non-negotiable parts of the product.

Timeline

From workshops to a global platform

2018

EdGene Biomed founded

First workshop in Delhi. 18 PhD students. Dubai workshop draws 28 participants from 4 countries.

2019 – 2023

Scale across India

Workshops at IISc, CCMB, NIMHANS, NII and 40+ universities. 1,500+ researchers trained.

2024

The pivot decision

Workshops can't scale fast enough. Decision to build OmixLab as a permanent, global platform.

2025 – 2026

OmixLab launches

Recorded courses, DEcode Ahmedabad (Sept 2026), Next GenOmics Dubai restart, and university partnerships across SE Asia & Africa.

What makes us different

Four things we do that others don't

01

Real research datasets

Published data from peer-reviewed papers. Not synthetic examples. Not toy data.

02

Error-first teaching

We show you the errors before the solutions. Understanding why something breaks is more valuable.

03

India-first context

Built with Indian research infrastructure — CSIR datasets, DBT workflows, Indian HPC access.

04

Two delivery modes

Self-paced courses for flexibility + in-person workshops for immersion. Pick what suits you.
